Raven gazed at Leticia as she went to a fridge and took a bottle of vodka pouring some into a glass and giving it to him. She said that she will not drink and he took the glass and spoke: “Cheers!” He then listened to her and heard about her passion concerning books. Well, he liked to read as well sometimes, just that he couldn’t always get the books, not easily anyhow. He cursed every day the security systems in shops. They were annoying. Then she spoke to him of many things, about what she liked, about travels and buying things, about writing and being engaged with a film director. That was indeed interesting.
The young human gazed at her and said: “I like music, your music most of all and I like going to concerts and be free. I like being free usually and whoever would want to end it will end bad. I don’t like when resources run out, I don’t like guards of any kind, cops, security guards, bouncers... they raise mi fighting mood too high. I like loosing myself in a metal concert, I like giving all in one.”
“Life is tough if you live on the streets mostly, it’s hard to stay alive and stay out of concealment. It’s thrilling to get in trouble.” He smiled to her and finished the shot of Vodka feeling kind of dizzy now. “Danger is awesome, thrilling. You should have a taste of my thrilling, sad, free life. It would be nice. I dream of buying a bike and go across the US. Maybe join some crazy biker gang and be full of money and other stuff.”
Raven took a sad look for a moment but then he was happy again. He really wished to do what he mentioned, get rid of this blighted place once and for all. It was a long time since he was here and he was already pretty tired of everything. Things didn’t worked fine, they never did. He was happy only when trying to have fun and when he got a bit of thrill. Otherwise life went on in a kind of sick way.
Raven gazed at Leticia and said: “Each with his own dreams, each with his own ideals. I like creepy stuff as well. I heard that the vampires really exist and behind the apparently funny part I would like to meet one. I read books about them. Some were bloody and some were passionate. Both sides were interesting. At least I’d like to get to know how is it to live forever before getting killed, finding it out from an immortal.”
“I’m crazy I know.” He smiled to her.

The words he spoke brought a bitter smile on Leticia's face. Of course, he was a bit drunk, but that meant he spoke the truth. She could see all the torment inside his soul, that longing for a breakaway she had felt sooo many times herself. And idea sparked in her head. Why wasn't Alex there already?
And then he spoke about vampires. He believed in them.
"You're not crazy" she said bending over and putting a hand on his shoulder. "It's normal. It’s the fascination for all that is unknown, and superior to us. Look, I, for example, would kill to meet a fairy” She stopped to arrange her dress over her knees, then laughed “Hope it doesn’t jinx me when I meet her.”
For moments, she was silent. She just looked at him, admiring his beautiful black hair and the fairness of his skin. She had many ideas about him, and not all of them were that innocent.
“You know, you don’t really strike me as the reading-type, but tonight you’ve been one surprise after another. I can lend you books, though. As many as you wish, as long as you promise to bring them back” she grinned. “Listen” she went on “why don’t you get a job?”
But any possible answer was interrupted by the arrival of a tall man, with long auburn hair, and a curly girl, with black hair (though its original colour was light brown) and blue eyes: Alex and Amy.
Leticia soon found out that Ian and Mark had left, as Mark didn’t feel too well. By that, they understood that he had gotten drunk. Again. Oh well.
The vampire asked Alex to accompany her outside, and when they came back, she sat back next to Raven, and smiled:
“Do you want to travel around and work with us? We DO need a technician.”

Raven followed Leticia-s words and smiled to her. She was funny. He answered: “I will sure bring the books back yeah.” Then gazing at her he thought for a few moments at the job question and smiled: “No one hires bankrupt people, no one hires outlaws. Simple!” Then he followed Leticia until the others came in. He smiled and greeted them. There were Alex and Amy. Raven greeted them happily and followed as Leticia went to talk to Alex.
Raven gazed at Amy and said: “It was a great show tonight. Amazing!”
Then soon Leticia was back and she spoke to Raven. He was amazed of such an offer. It was a dream, a dream he would do anything to make true. His look was amazed and he didn’t really thought that this was true. They needed a new technician. He knew a bit of that... but not enough kind of. He stared at Leticia and said: “I... I’d want to, it’s like a dream come true.... What do I have to do?”
He watched both Alex and Leticia. He had nothing to miss here, nothing to feel sorry for. That city was worthless. It has been all his life.

Leticia felt a bit overwhelmed of the outcome. So, he'd join them. Now that was the easy part. The hard one was about to begin. There would be some lies, some explanations of something that couldn't be properly explained. But that was how her life was. And it would ever be.
"Well" she said "connecting amps, cabling down, supervising how the stages are put into place. Things like those. Not so difficult, I guess, when you're not an idiot. Which you're not."
She paused, looking at his amazed face. She knew that somewhere inside, the guys were wondering what was all about, but they did need a technician, and this time, it had to be a smart, independent guy, which Raven seemed to be pretty much.
"Alex, take Amy home please" she continued. "I still have a few things to work out with our new employee here." She turned to him and smiled: "A walk?"

Raven smiled and gazed at Leticia. He nodded in an enthusiastic way and said: “I’ll do it. I will come and I’ll do it.” Then he followed Leticia as she told Alex to get Amy home. Then she mentioned the walk and Raven smiled and began walking with her slowly not caring much where she made him go. He was grateful somehow. He wasn’t used to the feeling. It struck him as new.
Looking into her eyes he said: “Thank you. I don’t know what to say. It’s amazing, everything is amazing. I thank you for this chance.” He gazed back into the ground and went on walking slowly. “I need to pack my things and leave. That will be interesting, amazing. I always dreamed of leaving this city.”
Raven was kind of ashamed about his life up to now and he didn’t really like that Leticia will find out about it. Leticia was the one he loved and admired... he was her fan and she was great unlike him.

Leticia smiled at the enthusiasm the young man had towards her proposal. She hoped that some of it was towards her, too. She hoped not for any kind of feeling of "owing" from him, but for him to like her, somehow.
She was curious of how things would turn out. It was a long way before them, it felt longer than the whole of her life, a way in which they'd maybe trip, or even hurt each other. But it felt like, somehow, their road further on was together.
She waved Alex and Amy goodbye as they left the room and then put her hand around her new friend's elbow. "So, walk now?" she left away, opening the door and going out. "Come, I'm waiting", she said, already on the corridor. "Oh, and, now. What was your name?"

Raven followed Leticia fast and soon they were out of the building. The night was a good time to go out and a good time for many things, except sleep, in Raven’s case. She heard her asking about his name and he said: “They call me Raven. I am the one luring around the city at night and doing different stuff. It’s interesting sometimes, most of the times.”
For a short time he resumed in walking close to her and being kind of proud about that. He was pretty sure that not many people had the privilege to walk near such an amazing figure. It was a great thing.
Gazing at her he spoke: “What place do you like most in all this huge world anyway? I imagine you went to a lot of places.”

Leticia laughed in her mind hearing the stranger’s words “more places than you could ever imagine” she thought “and whenever you can imagine”.
“Raven, you say? That’s a very nice name. It reminds me of Edgar Allan Poe. Of Odin of the Vikings. And somehow, in a very funny way, of Neil Gaiman. If you’ve ever read American Gods that is.”
Leticia walked into the night, the wind on the back alley disturbing her hair and raising the bottom of her leather overcoat. She liked the weather, it was somehow peaceful, like a mourning soul.
Turning once again to face Raven, she went on: “About places I like, there are many. I live here in London, because there’s something beautiful to it. I also love Stockholm, where I have a house and spend some time. I love the Northern countries in general. Another place I adore is Notre Dame in Paris. It’s huge and it’s immensity makes me feel so small and unimportant. And I also loved Romania, when I went there last year; we had two concerts, at the Sibiu Artmania Festival and at the Sighisoara Medieval Festival. And I didn’t find any vampire in either” she laughed, her voice filling the air.
“I’ve always wanted to see Iceland though, and never did.” She stopped once more and looked at him, wiping the hair off her face and glaring at his wonderful eyes. “We’re in talks for a concert there. So we’ll see it together. Right?” She smiled, biting her lower lip, her teeth as white as pearls. “So what know?”

Raven walked close to Leticia and listened to her. It was interesting to listen to her. By that he found out that she was living in London and that she enjoyed it. Raven didn’t really got the idea about that. He didn’t like the place any more and he wished to leave somewhere even if it was for a short time. It would have been a great moment of relaxation and of getting rid of his life around here.
Leticia mentioned Poe’s poem and Raven smiled. It was indeed an interesting piece of art and he had found it some time ago while looking around a book store. He liked to look for books and music even if he wasn’t wealthy enough to buy them as well, not all the time anyway. Business were working badly at the moment, very bad actually.
His home was at the border of the town, a small one, with everything that was needed but still a small one. Raven dreamed of having a motorcycle on which he could ride and feel free and some gas for it as well, bought or stolen, it didn’t even matter that much.
Leticia mentioned Romania and the fact that he found no vampire around there. That was funny. The place was renowned for having such creatures and as the place where Dracula lived. Anyhow people thought that vampires existed and that other creatures did as well but Raven haven’t met any of them unfortunately and yet no people to be linked to any. He wouldn’t like to meet a werewolf or something like that though.
As they walked, Raven’s arm touched Leticia’s and he felt her cold skin again. Gazing at her, as the wind blew slowly in his face for a few moments, he spoke: “You’re still cold... Are you always that cold or is it only happening because of the wind. I have to admit it’s interesting though.” Raven wasn’t sure of what he wanted to say by that but he thought the coldness to be more intense than in any human he met. The touch of her skin was very pleasant and soft despite it’s coldness.
He walked close to Leticia following the path through the city, a lonely and dim lighted one. He was all alone there and he had no idea why she went all alone about. He thought that stars were guarded and stuff and that at least they didn’t walk alone. Leticia sure was more interesting than other singers, more brave probably.
For a moment Raven looked at her and seeing how beautiful she was he wondered if she was human, What if she was a vampire? Considering the coldness and all... She would have suited as one, she was beautiful and she was dressing nice. He saw no fangs but that was something else. She would have looked good with them anyway. He smiled and went on thinking that his imagination was funny.
The night seem so silent on the small streets, it almost seem like going back in time and Raven gazed at the sky for the stars and the moon. They always made the scenery look more mysterious. Gazing at Leticia he said: “I like the night. It’s soothing, silent, safe sometimes... beautiful...”
“Have you ever heard of the creatures stories? Of vampires and werewolves and other stuff... of people that think that they hunt them? I suppose the night makes imagination go wild as well. I have never seen such things even if it would be interesting to meet one, maybe some sort of kind vampire in case there are any such creatures, a hunter or a man pretending that he feeds vampires... no way a werewolf though...” He laughed shortly

“Nighttime heightens, sharpens each sensation/ Darkness stirs and wakes imagination” Leticia muttered slowly hearing Raven’s words. “Andrew Lloyd Webber. Phantom of the Opera. Used to sing in it for a while.”
They walked together, into the night, the night which sheltered her and which Raven loved so much. The night that was her mother and his world. They owned the night together.
She had startled when she first heard him speak of her cold skin, but people had been telling her that forever and she had managed to convince them it was a medical condition.
“I’ve always liked the night. Ever since I was a little girl. My grandmother used to tell me stories of the goddesses in Ancient Greece, who ruled the night, who were worshiped and loved and admired. My grandmother was a wonderful woman. She had the same name I do, Leticia Evans. Though she almost married an English lord once, before World War II. But that was long ago” Leticia smiled at the lie she had told him. Indeed her grandmother had told her all those things, but she had been dead for more than 2000 years, the dear old lady. The woman she mentioned in connection to the Lord was herself.
She remembered having met him again, just 2 years before, at the opera, and him telling her how much she resembled a woman he had loved in his youth and whose name was the same. The lie about her being her grandmother had come immediately. In 2000 years of hiding, lies come as a second nature, she realized bitterly.
And then it hit her: she would lie to him too, her dear Raven. It broke her heart to realize that and for a moment she felt like revealing herself to him. “Not now, stupid” she thought to herself “it’s too early. You’ll lose him.”
And then she felt it again. That uneasy feeling she had had before, before the concert. Something wrong was going on. And it was scary. Some kind of evil spirits were about. It was an unholy night indeed.
Her vampire senses had sharpened enough in more than 2000 years to realize the danger. Something was on the loose. After her. She was in danger and so was Raven. Because of her.
“Raven?” she turned to him “Remember what you said about creatures of the night and stuff? Well, you’ll find out more about them than you’d like. Soon enough.” Her mind worked in a fever as she tried to find shelter for him more than anything. And then she knew. The old church, where she had spent so much time writing lyrics, in the abandoned tower! The idea seemed perfect. She looked at the man next to her: “Raven… follow me! RUN!” She yelled as she saw a misty whirl approaching them. She started fast-pacing, but slowly enough for him to be able to hold close. Her overcoat floated around her like the wings of a huge bat. For the first time in a long while, she wasn’t fighting for herself. And that gave her strength.

Raven listened closely to what Leticia was speaking about and the part with goddesses that ruled over the night was pretty interesting. He pretty much liked such stuff, stories and legends about long forgotten gods. All of them were interesting and amazing. Besides, all other stories were great, mostly when they had some fantastic part into them. Strange and paranormal was also a good thing to dig into sometimes.
The young human walked quietly near Leticia thinking back on how it could have been in those days of the past. Maybe it was better than now or maybe not. Anyhow they held some sort of romantic feeling. All old times held such feelings, from the age of pirates to the ages of warriors. Raven smiled and walked on. The night was a great one, just as he liked it to be.
Leticia’s next words were kind of interesting for him but soon interest changed to a rush of adrenaline of some sorts. She first mentioned the supernatural creatures he spoke about and then that he would find out more about them than he ever wanted. That sounded a bit creepy and Raven didn’t got the point until he saw a misty whirl. Now that was weird. He heard Leticia’s voice that told him to run and he followed her out of instinct. Why in the world would she want to run. The whirl was something unusual but still it was interesting to see. Or maybe he knew more about it than he did.
Raven followed her as they run to an old church apparently. Suddenly everything was getting far more interesting than he wanted. He still had no idea why they were running and if it was supposed to be a funny prank. He spoke as he ran: “Why are we running from. I suppose that was just the wind and a bit of fog. Why are we supposed to run and what my creatures have to do with all this?”
Soon they reached the area near the church and Raven gazed at it. It looked pretty interesting and at the same time it was probably safe from everything, or at least it was supposed to be safe. Many creatures could not enter holly ground probably, not vampires or any others, he had no idea if werewolves could. That would have been bad if it was true.
Raven had a long knife hidden somewhere with him but he had no idea if it was good for anything. Hopefully Leticia was just scared out of nothing even though he never thought that she was someone easy to scare like that. She surely knew more than she showed and that was pretty creepy.

Even though she was scared and trying to find a solution, she couldn't help smiling when she heard Raven's question. "just the wind and a bit of fog? No, my friend, I'm afraid not" she answered, her voice unusually low. "That's not a natural wind, just as I'm not a viking" she went on, while running on into the yard. she hoped it was safe, as it was holy land.
Funnily enough, though a vampire, she had no problem with holy realms. Her breed of vampires weren't cursed by God, which was indeed something unusual. And she liked churches. They were somehow, amazing.
The place they were in had been a Victorian church, which, due to some estate lawsuits, was now abandoned until an agreement would be reached. Leticia was planning to buy it then. And not improve it at all. She liked it just the way it was.
As she pushed the huge wooden doors asides, their creaking rustled into the night. They would've been heavy for a mortal to push, but this wasn't the time for roleplay.
As they were both inside, she pushed them back and then secured them with a candleholder. Then, she took out a glass vial, dressed in laced silver out of her bag, and took the cap off. Spilling some of the liquid inside on the doors, she drew a cross in the air with her fingers and then went back to Raven.
"Well, I guess those are fans of Carla, who still haven't gotten over me replacing her as the voice of PoisonRose". It was a weak lie, with the sole purpose of being a joke. She knew he expected some answers. And she had none.

Raven walked into the church, following Leticia and still wondering what the hell was what he just saw and why she was so afraid of. Then coming to the church was weird too thinking of it as a safety measure. He gazed at her with an amazed look and said: “Fans? How would fans do that unless they are some nature controlling freaks? And why are we sheltering in a church? because they are nice and civilized enough not to get in, in a noisy way?”
Raven spoke aloud and that caused the echo of his words to manifest. He went silent suddenly and gazed at her wondering what the hell was all that about. The church was silent as there was no one in at night. Probably there wasn’t going to be anyone inside for a long time now.
The young human came closer to Leticia as he watched the now heavy doors secured. He wondered how in the world did she pushed them in the first place anyway. Gazing at her he said: “You sure are strong to get so fast inside and close the doors like that. Pretty amazing I’d say. What are we running from really?”

Holding her breath as Raven spoke, Leticia tried to work up a solution, and fast. She had to tell him part of the truth, there was no doubt about that. On the other hand, however, it was impossible for her to say everything.
"What are we running from? Well, tonight, my friend is a dark night. It's the Walpurgisnacht, as it is called. One of the 4 sabbaticals in the witch mithology. And it is indeed a strange night. It is said that portals from another world are opened tonight and as you can see... it's true."
She tried to play her cards right. So far so good. No lies, no nothing. "And, you know, friend. These are things that few really know. People have heard about them but few are indeed aware. I've read about them long ago. I've studied them a lot. You see, I have friends who study them. Two of them, especially, Elune and Marguerite by their names. And in cases like these, the less you know, the better. Unfortunately, some people think I know TOO much. I'm not that loved in some circles. That's why I'm always careful with things like these."
She walked slowly around the church, her heels clacking, moonlight revealing her now and then, as she passed near the windows.
"Those are sent by someone who doesn't like me too much. They're some kind of spirits, not that powerful but dangerous nevertheless. That's why I think it's safer here."
She sat down, her arms around her knees, and her head on them. All of a sudden, she felt tired. As the moonlight shone upon her face, she looked old and worried.

Raven gazed at Leticia with a weird look. She seemed like speaking about stories, anyway, supernatural stories. Sabbaticals? From when those were real anyway and witches. Then spirits sent after her... Either she was a witch that angered spirits, in case they existed either she was more than that. Yet apparently all the damn things were pretty real somehow. The names of her friends, they sounded mysterious somehow, somehow old as well.
The young human followed Leticia as she stood down slowly. Gazing at her as the moonlight fell upon her face, he somehow looked mysterious as well and her eyes gleamed with some sort of wise look. Apparently she knew more than he ever imagined and she didn’t seem that young sometimes. That was weird...
Raven placed one hand on her shoulder as he just felt the need to do that. She seem to be sort of sad and he would comfort her. She was apparently a nice person. Raven looked around and spoke slowly: “How in the world is this real anyway? Spirits? I thought that those who spoke of creatures encounters were some sort of, well, confused people... too much imagination? Vampires, werewolves, ghosts and stuff, they don’t exist into his world right?”
The body count associated with weird stories was pretty large though. Now how would that be explained.
