The motorbike howled like a wicked banshee as it flew down the midnight pathway. The wheels swerved around corners with a grace and a speed which only someone fearless of death could possibly drive. The metal beast narrowly missed the fountain, jumped over the grassy slopes and manoeuvred carefully through the trees like stitchwork as it drove THROUGH the park. Then as the park’s main entrance way came into sight, the engine reduced its ferocious roar to a low hum, as it slowed to a standstill.
The woman on the bike, carefully got off. Feeling the rush of adrenaline still pumping through her veins, from her own idea of a shortcut. She took off her helmet and Aria smiled as she let her fingers slide through her hair. For her, there was nothing like a good bike ride before a hunt. It sharpened the senses and got the body ready for action.
She got rid of some of her leathers, unzipping the jacket and then securing her rifle and daggers. And then, she waited.

Spero was ready for the worse night of his life, it was something he planned for. He trained for this night, he wanted to make sure he could control his abilities perfectly with his mind so if he was in any trouble he could escape and heal himself, he talked to his grandfather about a matter that concerned him, what if they were to cut off one of his fingers or limbs. His grandfather told him to let his alter take control to heal him if he need to. He left everything that dealt with the Xakex clan back inside the manor. He didn’t want information about the clan to be passed around, his body was information enough. He wouldn’t hear the last of it if he let information escape just because he got caught. His father would get on him until the end of his days, that was the last thing he wanted more people watching his ass.
He didn’t put on his best stuff, but he decided to put on the slayer uniform that his father had given to him the day he had completed his training, a uniform was given to all of their operatives, in a way they all looked like a cross between a ninja and a soldier sporting all of one dark color. He had a black uniform the mark of the elite or first class operative, all the other colors were dark, red, blue, purple, green, and any other color that they could possibly think of, each one meant a certain thing. Putting his guns in the lower back holsters, something he never liked doing. He walked out of the manor and got into one of the clans limos, he decided to leave for good when he got to a friend of his club. He had a private room that he was able to use that was all black.
When he got there he walked into the room and opened a rip into Oblivion, then left the club to go to the meeting spot that Aria agreed to. He appeared out from behind the trees. He knew somewhat of what he was putting himself through. Walking behind Aria, but not near her knowing she would probably throw him or stab him thinking he was someone else.
“Hey I see you are prompt as usual.” Taking a look at the bike “So I thought you were going to use the money I gave you to buy a new vehicle that could hold your hunts. I guess not, well it’s not my business what you use the money for. Oh! Before I forget here is the check as promised before I forget. You will get one more when this is all over.”
He reached into Oblivion for his check book wrote out a number and held it in his hand before closing Oblivion, then he dropped it into a shadow and had it appear from above her from a shadow of a tree, it floated down in front of her.
“Would you rather I give you cash next time we meet? Ok so how do you want to do this, I was thinking you could shoot me from a distance like you tried doing last time. What do you think?”

As she waited, Aria checked on her satchel of vampiric goodies – ammunition clips of UV bullets, flash grenades, two glass bottles of kerosene with fuse, a vial of silver nitrate which she had already laced on her daggers. No stakes however. Stakes may work well on vampires, but she had seen one go through her brothers heart – and he was human! She could never touch such a thing after...after that night. And now here she was, working for a god damn Slayer!
Forgive me. Aria asked inwardly, the words which she chanted over and over to herself before falling asleep at night.
“Hey I see you are prompt as usual.” A voice caught her unaware from behind, “So I thought you were going to use the money I gave you to buy a new vehicle that could hold your hunts...”
Aria jumped up in reaction with her dagger. Realising it was only Spero she laughed at herself. “And give away my baby?” She answered stroking the motorcycle tenderly, “You’ve got to be kiddin! Besides, ridding around with dead bodies on my back is one of the thrills of my job.”
“Would you rather I give you cash next time we meet?” Spero asked in regards to payment.
“As long as it’s money, I don’t really care.” She answered after taking the check that floated towards her.
“Ok so how do you want to do this, I was thinking you could shoot me from a distance like you tried doing last time. What do you think?”
“You mean you want me to shoot you?” Aria laughed, now that was a first. “My client wants me to bring you to him alive, remember. But I suppose we can’t just have you march right on in there, looking like you’ve just stepped out of a salon. They’d get suspicious. I could always shoot out your knee cap and immobalize you. Or...”
Aria dug through her satchel and found her high strength pair of handcuffs, purposely forged for werewolves. She hung them in the air for Spero to see. “I’m not getting kinky! But I can put you in these and give my client some story about how I drugged you and dragged you here. I’ll leave the catch lock loose, so you’ll be able to break free from the cuffs when you want too. What are you planning to do, anyway?”

“Well I figured that me being all powerful and what not, you would have to combo me up somehow, so I was thinking you could shoot out my ankles or my knee caps from afar, You don’t have to leave anything loose, I can get out of handcuffs no problem. I have another idea, why don’t you drug me ill run down somewhere and you can take my ankles out with that gun and then hand cuff me, if you shoot that thing too close to me, then someone will notice it.”
He gathered dark power to prepare for what he had to go through. He didn’t know where she was taking him but he was counting on Laharl to help him out of the bind. He already made a deal with Laharl to help him out. It was his only chance to do what he had to do. Nothing else could help him, no one would be there to bail him out of this one. He had to do it all on his own. Get captured and escape with his life, after finding out information on why they wanted him in the first place.
“So what you think about this plan, does it work, because if it doesn’t then we could think up something new. I mean yea the answer to your question obviously is I want you to shoot me, I mean if you deliver me to your client without some damage being done, they are going to be rather suspicious of you, not to mention you have to make it look like you had the element of surprise, someone as strong as I am, you wouldn’t be able to take me on straight forward.”
He let her put her few cents in on the matter listening closely to the strategy at hand. He couldn’t help but think that she had some good points about things.
“Oh and please accept my humblest apologies about working with me, I know you don’t like working with a slayer, but think of it as working for a witch, the only reason I’m still a slayer is because of how big my father’s clan is. I don’t know the reason you don’t like working with us, but I didn’t choose to be what I am, and I’m sorry for putting you in this position.”

After the Slayer comment, Aria tried to get some distance away from him. He just had to make things harder by being so nice. Aria walked a little, as she started to talk, figuring that if he could teleport himself all over the place, disappear and do shadow tricks then he could at least hear her from afar.
“I don’t like slayers for a lot of reasons. For a start I don’t think its right to try and eliminate a race just because us humans are having an inferiority complex and their no longer on top of the food chain. And secondly……….” Aria paused for a moment, swallowing a lump in her throat. Her fists balled up and she felt a shiver run down her spine. Then finally she heaved a sigh of annoyance toward herself. “Never mind.” Since arriving in America she had never spoken about it, and she was not going to tonight either.
Spero would not drop the whole idea of being shot down. He was right about seeing him as a Witch – he was as crazy as one!!
“Ok, I’ll gun you down. Though I don’t quite get the idea why we have to do so much showmanship. It’s not like anybody will be watching exactly how you got brought in. But if that’s what you want.” She sighed. Aria reached for her rifle, sliding it from its sheath strapped to her back. She replaced the UV bullets with a normal round. Then primed the weapon.
This should be fun. She thought disgustedly, trying not to allow her conscience to come into play on this one.
“Ready?” She said.
Aria figured it would be easier for him if she caught him off guard. Well she didn’t think anyone would want to wait around, expecting a bullet, if they had to take one.
So before Spero could answer her question, she took a few more paces backwards, assessing that it was a good distance. She raised her rifle, took a quick aim at an ankle and shot him, there and then!
Then fired a second shot…just for good measure.
“I wouldn’t recommend bringing up the conversation about slayers again. It get’s me pissed off.” She said, the barrel of her gun steaming in the cold air, still aimed. “Now, do you want me to drug you? Or are you just gonna act drugged. I figured it would be easier after you’ve been shot. You know, the element of surprise!”

“To be honest with you I don’t why we all can’t live in coexistence, I personally want that, I told you before I don’t kill them, I only defend myself whenever they attack me, and they do because I’m a slayer. I’m sorry if feel that way.”
She told him never mind and started to walk way, Spero had his back turned slightly at this point looking over at the park wondering where it was a good place for him to run so she could shoot him after drugging him. Then he heard her say something just before he turned around to answer her, he heard two shots ring, and felt a sharp pain in his ankle that made him collapse.
“DUUDE WHAT THE HELL!!!! You were supposed to drug me first then shoot me from afar with my back turned, now the bullet looks like I was facing you when I shot you. AGGH!”
He slapped his hand on his face and nodded his head side to side knowing this was going wrong. He concentrated on blocking the pain with a shadow that was in his jeans.
“I won’t bring it up, again but just so you know, I don’t kill, I defend. So what are we to do now, because I don’t see any point in you drugging me, if the person you take me to is skilled then they will figure out its set up, and that you drugged me after you shot me, and the part that will give itself away is the fact that the bullet is in my front. I’m not trying to be picky but the details matter if this guy knows his stuff, and I don’t want him trying to hurt you because it was a set up to begin with. My plan is to stay with him as long as I can and stay alive as long as I can, so you can be way away when I escape.”

“Sorry but I figured this would be a nicer deal for you. Besides if you can be caught out when you know your going to be shot, then you can be caught out when your not expecting it!” Aria said, hoping that her temper earlier hadn’t gotten her carried away.
“Otherwise you should of dodged.” She shrugged, walking back to him. “Now, can I at least help stop the bleeding or are you going to throw me a massive guilt trip here?”
Aria dug out some bandages and a forcipes from the first aid kit stored in her bike seat compartment. She tried to help him as much as she could. Using the forceps, she pulled out the bullets and dressed the wounds applying pressure as she spoke.
“You really think they'll take a blood test to even find out? Besides, if this person is as good as you think he his, then he will surely have assessed my capabilities as well as yours, to have even thought of hiring me in the first place. And he ought to know that I would of never been able to drug you before shooting you. Just how do you expect me to catch you to stick a needle up your arse, hmmm? I’m not that good Spero. And somehow I have a feeling that spiking your drink with a benzo wouldn’t even knock you out. Nope, I would use nothing but the finest Ketamine, which is worldly renowned as being a horse and elephant tranquiliser. Its probably the only thing that would work on you. Unfortunately it only comes in the form of an intramuscular injection, which means I’d have to tag you down. So I’d take you by surprise, even if it would take me a 100 separate attempts, as whoever this guy is would know that I’m a stubborn little bitch. Eventually immobilize you, then drug you and let you enjoy a wild ride on my bike…And yes I would even administer first aid if they where wanted alive.”
She looked down at his bandaged ankles and the two hot rods of a molten bullet, which she had pulled out.
“You want to keep the bullets for luck?” She asked.

He looked at her like she was crazy when he was asked if he wanted to keep the bullet. Spero was not at all liking this one bit, it wasn’t the fact that he got shot, it was how she did it. This went completely against his plans of what he wanted to do. He didn’t know how to react to how she was doing things but he just wanted this to be done with. Using a shadow as a chair he climbed up and limped over to the nearest bench and sat down, he took a deep breath not thinking of the pain he would have to endure for the hours to come.
“You know I could have just drank something… if you must know just because I’m a slayer does not mean I can detect drugs in my drinks. For your information I skipped out that lesson of “how to detect drugs in your drink when being chased” I told you I’m a half assed slayer, I’m lazy and I don’t care for slaying I only do it to protect others, that’s what I decided ever since she died” his voice went down to more of a whisper.
He recollected memories, his scattered memories of his past with her alive, his mother. She was a soft and gentle person, but she was firm. She always had a smile on her face and never showed her children anything other than that. If she was still alive Spero would probably never have continued his slaying training he would have given up and did something else, he didn’t care if his father hated him, he just wanted to please the one that mattered, his mother. She was fine with whatever he did. Then when she was gone, that was when he decided that he would protect others, and not let innocent people suffer or become harmed.
Sighing he sat back up “Soooo how you want to do this?”

“You really think that these guys would go to such scrutiny, don't you? I mean, I know your like the number one guy everyone has on their hit list right now, all the vampires want you dead, plus whoever else are your rivals, and I was originally hired to reel you in, but don’t you think your just being a tad bit paranoid?” Aria let the question hang there, as she thought about it herself. “Ok never mind.”
Aria unloaded her ammo clip of her rifle, and replaced it with vampire killing UV bullets. She tried to help Spero to the bench and noticed the sad tone in his voice when he mentioned a death of a female.
“Your not half arsed Spero.” She spoke truthfully. “Whoever, WHATever you’re going to face; if there’s anyone who can get through this, then its the Shadow King. You just need to chill a bit. They’re going to find out its a trick at some point, no matter how careful you are. And when they do find out, you’re going to need to be at full strength, not have a hangover from some drug or be wounded. Do you understand what I’m getting at?” She sighed.
“This is your call. You tell me how you want this done and I’ll try not to fuck about too much. But if it still worries you about being shot from the front, then I could always cut your legs off.” Aria tried to hold back her laughter. She wanted him to think that she was being serious. “Hides the evidence and seems like a practical thing I would do to stop you from escaping.”
She held out her dagger. “Unfortunately I haven’t got an axe, so its more like carve your legs off.” She said showing him the motions with her blade, while giving him a sick smile.

His other almost flipped at what Aria had said. He was on the brim of coming out on his own, if it wasn’t for Spero suppressing him he woulda tried to kill Aria. Spero convinced him that he needed to find out who was trying to track him down.
He sat on the bench looking down, shaking his head as if shaking off the thoughts he was thinking about his mother. He ignored he hunter’s comments they didn’t bother him as much as it bothered his other. He looked up at her and snickered at her when she said something about a hangover.
“I understand your concern Aria but I think it would be a bit better if I was knocked out and brought there.” He said while closing he eyes waiting for her to knock him out. “Make sure you get my good side” he chuckled.
He knew this is where it all began… the beginning of the end …. and the end of the beginning

Aria paused for a second. For some reason this moment seemed to hold more weight than Aria could first comprehend. There was something, just a flash, in Spero’s eyes which worried her. She took a second glance and it was gone.
She held the butt end of her rifle like a club. Sighed. A sick feeling sunk low in her stomach; pensive and worrisome.
“Well good luck to yha.” She said, “I hope the old Gods take better care of you than they have with my arse. I have a strange feeling that you've got some rough times ahead.” One last glance into his eyes confirmed that this was what he wanted. He shut them.
With that, Aria swung a homerun with the rifle into Spero’s face. All 29 inches of cold steel barrel hit him at the weak spot of the cranium’s temporal shell. For good measure, she threw a second hit – well she couldn’t have her clients complaining of half done jobs….even unconscious ones.
In the sudden quiet, Aria starred at her bike. It rested, leaning to one side. She contemplated all the years of attempting to balance bodies on the back of it. Now there would be one more.
“I’m gonna have to buy a truck!” She growled.
