She glared at him playfully.
"Don't call me Snowflake, Dono..." she told him, her eyes flashing with mischief. She heard his heart speed up and sighed happily, leaning her head against his and closing her eyes as he nipped her lip.
"Yeah, the wolf can be really hard to control at times...it takes a lot of self-control..." Her voice was a soft whisper as she opened her eyes again to stare at him. "I love the amber in your eyes..." He was kissing her again, and her senses were overwhelming her. She shook her head to clear it and put her arm around his neck, her lips covering his softly.

"You smell more Iris-y," he said, sounding slightly confused, not wanting to leave her embrace. "Is it always like this?...I mean, does EVERYTHING have more smell in it to you-errr...us?" he asked, correcting himself. It still felt weird to think of himself as a werewolf, even though he knew that was certainly the case.
There was a certain contentment for him, just holding her there. There was a simple pleasure in keeping her near him, just touching foreheads and giving the smallest of kisses and tiniest of nips.
Keeping so close to her was having another effect on him, though, and his body was beginning to heat up. He felt the wolfish side stirring MUCH more strongly. "Wow.." he mumbled..."I feel weird..."

Iris smiled and nodded, rubbing noses with him lovingly. She enjoyed being with him tonight, enjoyed having him with her here when she needed him...and now, when he needed her. She was so happy that she had someone to share her werewolf life with, especially since that someone was Donovan.
"Yes, your sense of smell is always going to be heightened now...wolves have a better sense of smell than humans do..." she answered and she cuddled in his arms. "And yes, you will feel weird until your body accustoms itself to you..." Iris smiled tenderly and leaned into his arms, tilting her head and kissing him gently on the lips, playfully nipping at him as her heart started to race again. God, these feelings will never get old for her! She loved everything about him, the way he smelled, the way his mouth tasted against her lips, his tender protectiveness of her. He was the best thing for her right now, and he would always be now that he was one in the same with her.
((YAY! MUSE IS BACK!))

Suddenly, Donovan felt even more odd than he had before. His stomach started fluttering, and he felt feverish. "Shit.," Donovan muttered, shaking his head uneasily. He looked back at Iris, suddenly starting to tremble. His eyes burned; they hurt like hell. Suddenly, it almost seemed as if he was losing the ability to see color correctly. His vision was blurring, and the colors were washing out a bit, fading.
"Is...is this supposed to happen?" Donovan said, sounding unsure of everything, a slight bit of fear in his voice. His eyes were blazing amber now, bright and reflecting the light in the room.
He glanced at his right hand, seeing it doing...something...he wasn't sure exactly what. It seemed to be pulsing. It itched like hell, and Donovan saw a few black strands of hair pushing out, growing slowly from the back of his hand. The odd feeling only seemed to be intensifying, and Donovan couldn't help but be frightened.

Iris stopped kissing him and leaned back to look at him, worry all over her face. She stared at him and held his face in her hands, stroking his cheek with her thumb and frowning.
"Don..." she spoke softly, trying to get him to look at her. "You're about to shift...don't panic, all right? Just let it happen, baby...it's natural..." A small smile appeared on her face as she saw his amber eyes, and she became captivated as she stared back into a werewolf's eyes. She saw his black fur appearing on his skin, and her smile widened. "So you're going to be black...that's a contrast to my snowy white..." she put her lips to his forehead and felt it burning with the temperature of a werewolf. That was her cue, she guessed, as she scooted a little away from him on the bed and kept her eyes focused on him, watching him slowly transform and wanting to know his reaction, see how he would handle his wolf form.

"Oh god...oh god...am I ready for this? " Donovan wondered. He began to hyperventilate a bit, the odd feeling continuing to intensify. His whole body began to tremble, and he tumbled off of the bed, struggling to stop it, but the more frightened he became, the harder it became to control his trembling.
He was aware of Iris talking, but he wasn't really hearing the words, they weren't registering in his mind. Something was wrong, he knew it...it wasn't supposed to feel like this, was it?
He looked down, and saw both his hands stretching, morphing and changing. Black fur began to blossom increasingly fast, tickling his skin. He was aware of a sensation of pressure in his body, like he was being squeezed, and the world swam before his eyes.
And then...Donovan stood on four legs...glancing around, looking confused. He didn't feel weird anymore...he felt...good? He looked up at Iris on the bed...his Iris.
"I'm fine!" he tried to say, actually thinking he said it, until he heardt he baritone growling bark that actually came out of his mouth. A startled yip came out a moment later. He caught his reflection in a mirror on the closet door. "That's...me?" he wondered, walking over to his reflection, staring at the large black wolf.

Iris watched him phase into a big black wolf, and she gasped at the beautiful creature in front of her. Poor Donovan...the first phase must've hurt him, so she was still worried about him. She got out of bed, kneeling next to Donovan in his wolf state and putting her hand out to him, using her other hand to stroke his black fur adoringly. He was sleek and his amber eyes stood out against the dark fur in his face. He barked once, and she laughed gently, rubbing her human nose with his wolf one. The blonde watched him check out his reflection in the mirror. His thoughts were all running together, and she could hear them all, so she listened and responded.
'Yes, you're fine, now...' she telepathed to him, staring right at him without moving her lips so he would know she was speaking through her mind to his. 'And yes, that is you now...well, your wolf form, at least...don't you think it's cool that I'm white and you're black? You are kind of like the ying to my yang or something...' she leaned over and continued to pet him soothingly, wanting him to calm down and be all right with the phasing stage so that it would be easier for him next time. She thought to herself, 'He's mine...I can't believe he's mine...and I am all his...I want to be his...I love him...'

"It's neat! We're like a great matched set!" Donovan said, yipping excitedly again, before controlling himself and simply thinking, remembering that she could hear his thoughts. "I'm so lucky to have such a beautiful mate, no matter what skin she's wearing," he thought, leaning into her.
Her touch was calming to him, and his heart rate slowed to a more normal rate. He licked her fingers a bit, nipping them playfully. "But..uhh..wowyousmellnicewow....does the phasing always feel so weird?" He telepathed to her, cocking his head a little, rather unconsciously.

Iris couldn't help but laugh at his statements and rambling as she felt him leaning into her ad hearing every thought he was thinking about her. A sweet smile crossed her lips as she kissed his nose and rubbed him behind the ears lovingly. She laughed gently as he nipped at her fingers and she grabbed his ear with her teeth, tugging on it playfully and shaking her head from side to side like a dog does.
"No...you definitely get used to the phasing and it becomes a second nature for you after about a week or two..." she answered him thoughtfully as she smiled at his cocked head and rubbed his neck again, closing her eyes and humming a song softly to him.

Donovan laughed internally as she took his ear in her mouth, and relaxed even more as she hummed the song and continued to stroke him. He laid down, putting his head against her, and closing his eyes contentedly.
He began to wish that he could go back to being human, well, looking human, anyway..and the strange feeling came over him again, though it felt strange in a different way. He shuddered against her, a slight whimper going through him; it still felt so foreign and so frightening. He tried not to let on how frightening it felt to him, not wanting to cause her any concern, but still he whimpered.
Soon enough, Donovan was back to feeling (and looking) more himself, though he wasn't sure if he hadn't gained a wee bit more hair than he'd had before. He smiled, wrapping his arms around Iris. "This is really my life now? I never would have believed this possible if I'd never met you."

Iris felt his head against her and smiled, humming to him a little softer until she felt him phasing back to human form with a whimper. She leaned back from him until he was completely human again and then moved into his arms. His arms wrapped around her, and she snaked her arms around his neck, sighing happily and kissing him softly on the lips and asking if he wanted to go back on the bed or stay on the floor where they were at. He asked if it was really his life now...said that if he'd never met her, he never would have believed any of this could ever happen. She smiled at him and kissed him again.
"Hun, if you never would have met me, you wouldn't know those things trying to kill you were bloodthirsty vampires...and..." she paused for a second, kissing his lips again, "and I never would've found the love of my life...my soulmate...my reason for living and wanting to get up everyday..." She looked him in the eye. "I love you, Don..." she moved her lips back to his as she proved how much she loved him, her arms tightening around his neck and her lips pressing a little harder against his.

"Let's get back up on the bed," Donovan said to her, wobbling a bit unsteadily. It was funny how two feet now felt weird for a second, like his brain was having trouble adjusting to the idea of being human again.
Her kisses seemed to taste all the sweeter now that they shared something more mystical than he'd ever known until he'd met her.
"I love you, Don..."
He returned her kisses with equal passion, having never believed that he could love someone so much before he met her. "You've shown me so much, love," he said, "And you've made me so much more than a werewolf...you've made me complete. I don't have to look for that missing piece any more. Soulmate sounds like such a funny word, something that hippies made up...but it's so true, when I look into your eyes, when I hold you in my arms, and when I kiss you. I love you so much, Iris...so very, very much."
