sometimes people just plain old forget even the most extreme of all hurts. Sometimes its just something we can not help. for every bit of new information that is put into the brain, something from the past is shoved further back and slowly it becomes obvious to the observer that some information needs to be sacrificed for the new material. Imagine this process going on forever. Not just a really long time but literately forever. Imagine having so many new pieces of information shoved into your brain you forgot how the whole thing started?
Thats what happened here. To many of the elves and vampires they no longer remember a time before Lyshah Markeisha. An old word that translate into "Midnight War" A time of peace and happiness, a time where the vampires were their neighbors and friends have become legend to the elves, stories and myth that get told to children as bedtime stories as the war rages outside their bedroom windows. The vampires tell a similar story, though not as free. A time o0f oppression and fear of the sun that their elders solved, although in not the most diplomatic of ways. The vampires invited the elven queen and her coven to their home and asked for a spell to be caste over their skies. An eternal night to leave the vampires free to roam as they wished. They complied but when the spell was over, the vampires killed the coven, using their blood to seal the magic forever. As you can imagine this did not go well with the elves and so the war started over thousand of years ago.
Vampire and elf alike have taken to the fields, warriors ready for a fight that will free their people of this nightmare and yet no salvation can be found by either party. And yet the real victims in this are the shifters. Brought by nature, a twist of man and beast, they are drawn to this spot with only defeat on the horizons. They fight uselessly against the vampires, knowing it is capture or death. Maybe of the shifters taken as food, a living blood source, since their blood is more potent then elf or human. And if an elf approaches, then you are in for a sneer and a pretense of friendship, canon fodder in a fight to give their own kind a better chance against the blood drinkers. Both promised a death of some kind.
So the war is on, the elves against the vampires and the shifters stuck here just to try and survive.
