COWBOYS & ANGELS
It took God just one day to create man, and it took every man one lifetime to fully understand the Almighty's folly.
In the beginning God shared his dominion and his creation with all of his angels. His loyal subjects were his attentive conduits to the human world; back during a time when man feared their God, listened to prophecies and loved their fellows. This was a rare and peaceful time, but typically, it wasn't to last.
Throughout millenia man fought against man, raping their natural resources. The entire world warred and gradually turned their backs on the formerly feared might of their deities. Now, as the Earth faces what could possibly be it's third and final war, the powers that be have decided the time to sit idly by and watch their creations destroy themselves has passed, and a new era, a new beginning must be conceived and brought to fruition. No matter what the price.
And there is a price. For everything the Almighty wants, the Devil wants too. So an agreement was struck. It was one thought to be beneficial to all; a way that both parties could maintain and cultivate belief and worship, and a way that might possibly save the human race from itself.
God sent his angels out into the world and Lucifer sent his demons. Human adults were chosen by the deities' sentinels, some from very obviously different criteria. These conduits of the divine bestowed a gift upon the chosen ones, a gift that they could use for the greater good of their causes.
Manus Deus, The Hands of God, spread the word and benevolence of their Almighty. They keep balance in the world.
Manus Abyssus, The Hands of Hell, spread dissent and disorder. They follow a darker path, as much their own as their master's.
While the two factions have often treated each other with a begrudging tolerance, some might say even a strange sort of respect, the delicate balance has begun to shift. Warring nations require the attentions of all, regardless of their own personal vendettas. God wishes for an amicable resolution, while Lucifer wishes for annihilation.
And caught in the middle, their human tools begin to use their newfound powers to do their bidding. The question is, is it enough?
Are humans destined to destroy themselves? Will their new power corrupt?
And which side are you on?
